Down Comforters – Egyptian Cotton Sheets

Hello everyone,

Thank you for visiting Talk Is Sleep. I want to talk about down comforters and Egyptian cotton sheets today. These are the best ways to go when your talking about sleep and comfort in the same sentence.

Goose down comforter, duvets, duvet covers, bedding comforters, and bed comforter sets. Which do you chose/want? This choice can be a difficult one if you don’t know what you’re getting.

In this post we will go over the difference of these options and help educate you to make the best choice when it comes to bedding. If I have missed or left anything out today please let me know. Leave your comments and questions below.

King Size Down Comforter

Goose down comforters and king-size bedding are the most popular buys when it comes to bedding.

Comforters are usually sold as part of a bed in a bag, these are sets that contain an entire set of bedding in the same color and or a matching pattern. The set includes a comforter and top sheet, fitted sheet, and pillowcases.

In more deluxe sets they may include a bed skirt and pillows sometimes pillow shams too.

Comforters are used in the winter time when it is very cold. Because of the thickness of a king-size comforter and the amount of down or feathers included in the filling it has, a lot of insulating against cold.

Remember if your looking for the layered looked to your bedding the king-size duvet cover is the way to go!

Queen Size Down Comforter

Queen size bedding is the second most popular size to buy in bedding.

The typical comforter is thick, quilted, and a fluffy comfy blanket that is used to keep you warm. They are usually filled with synthetic fiber fillers which, are quilted and or stitched to keep the fillings evenly distributed.

Unlike a duvet, the queen comforter is only one piece of all of your bed linens. The down comforter is made to sit on top of your sheets and for those of you who want a layered look this is the way to go. Comforters are usually sold in bedding sets. These sets have matching separate pieces that makes decorating easy.

Taking care of your comforter is easy too, you can just put it in the washer with your other bedding.

Queen size duvet covers are also a must if you are planning on spending a lot on your bedding. Bed comforters are another way to go if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, but want a nice look.

Duvet Cover Sets

There has been some serious confusion between duvet cover and comforters. I want to try to clear this confusion, so that when you buy, you buy what your really looking for.

Now when it comes to a duvet cover I like to think of it like it is a pillow case for your comforter. A duvet cover is basically a protective layer that you put over the duvet and has a zipper or some type of closure.

Both duvets and comforters are expensive and very difficult to clean, duvet covers are useful because they protect your comforter while you are using it and are easy to removed and easy to wash. The good thing about duvet covers is, you can quickly and easily change the look and feel of your bedroom without having to completely redecorate the entire room.

The duvet should fit snug inside the cover. White duvet covers are a popular selection usually because of their clean look. These covers can allow easy changes from season to season depending on what look you are going for.

Egyptian Cotton Sheet Sets

King, queen, full, and twin size bed sheets are all the first point of comfort. Egyptian cotton sheets are one of the best sets of sheets to buy depending on the thread count of them.

The thread count simply means the number of horizontal and vertical threads per square inch. What this means to the buyer is that, the higher the thread count, the softer and more comfy the sheets.

A lot of the time these sheets will soften as you use them. They will wear down evenly, so you don’t get what I call bald spots in your sheets or holes in the middle. Over time the look and feel to these sets only get better.

A good pair of sheets within a budget will range anywhere from 200 thread count to 800 thread count, although if you want serious quality you will go with anything over 1,000 thread count. I personally recommend anything over 1000 thread count, and you can thank me later.

Sleep In

I love my sleep!

I hope you do too. If your not it’s probably because of your bedding or just your bed. Now, when it comes to comfort there’s no need to think about it. This is a need that everyone should take seriously.

Another way of adding comfort to your bed is pillows. Decorative throw pillows always make a room! I’m a guy and I feel like a lot of pillows make my bed a bed. I always tell my friends when they ask why I have so many pillows, that I can hug one, choke one, and throw one and still be comfy.

  3. Hi, Jaywhon.
Lots of great information here on Comforters and Egyptian Sheets.
I did not know too much about thread counts for sheets and now I do.

When I’m ready for new sheets for my self or as gifts for others, I will definitely give you a try.
I have bookmarked your site for future reference.

If I buy something as a gift, can I have it shipped to them directly (they are out of province) or
do I have to receive it myself and ship forward?

I will await your answer, Jaywhon.

    Kindest regards,

    Paul.
